How my journey began
I have been living a corporate life for over 30 years, juggling my growing family, an exciting job in strategy, and a welcoming home and garden in the Upper Valley in Lyme, NH.
Alzheimer’s has been in my family for generations. My mother, her sister, mother, cousin, aunt — all suffered variations of this heartbreaking disease. Knowing that I could be next in line, I had to find ways to keep my brain healthy to give me a fighting chance.
There are over 7 million people living with Alzheimer’s in the US, and about two-third are women. Today there is no cure, however there is an increasing body of research about prevention! I learned that the risks of ending up with Alzheimer’s are much less from your genes than from your environment and lifestyle. It’s never too early and never too late to change. This gave me so much hope!
Our family adopted a whole food plant-based lifestyle, moved more, spent more time in Nature and experienced life changing benefits — better digestion, weight loss, growing positive mindset. A huge bonus was that it really helped me weather smoothly through menopause! It is not always easy and we are certainly not perfectly following all the guidelines.
The positive changes I saw encouraged me to go back to school so I could learn how to help others just like you find their own path to maintain a healthy brain and life. I graduated from the Institute for Integrative Nutrition Health Coaching Training program (IIN) and earned the certification of a ‘Health Coach in Integrative Nutrition’. I am now helping many women make sustainable change.
I learned I could be in control of my future health — so can you.
